Let’s meet George, our Audio Lead.
Q & A
What is your role and what aspect of the game are you working on?
I work as Sound Designer, Composer, Audio Implementer and generally whatever requires audio expertise. This means I write music, record, edit and design sound effects and test audio.
Did any game(s) inspire you to shape any of the features or provide input in Imagine Nations? How so?
I think the game that inspired me the most is Elder Scrolls Oblivion. The overall music system of IN is similar to Oblivion, Morrowind or Skyrim in that there’s exploration, combat or underground specific themes.
Sound Design wise IN is much more than an adventure title so consequently there’s a heap of influences in there.
What game(s) influenced you the most? What impact did they have on you as a person today?
The Super Chinese series had the biggest impact on me as a gamer and as a video game professional as well, mostly because I was so young when I first played them. I remember I was 10 years old or so and they were such a huge leap from your arcade shooters and Marios that I was blown away.
Many years later I found the Gothic series and shortly thereafter The Elder Scrolls series, which took the RPG factor to new heights for me. I’m also really fond of strategy games such as Age of Empires or even Heroes of Might and Magic. Just recently I preordered Age of Wonders 3 and I’m really stoked about it.
What is your favorite video game character?
My favorite game character has to be the Spelunker in Spelunky. That little guy can be so expressive while being made of just a few pixels.
What game(s) are you playing when you are not working hard?
At the moment I’m working hard pretty much all the time, but since I can rely on my ears only for limited periods of time I also need to unwind. During these breaks I either play Titanfall or Banished. Titanfall actually makes me even more tired so I turn to Banished for my dose of Zen.
What is your favorite food and drink?
What ever’s in the fridge probably.
Any last words?
