Meet the Team: Fatih

Let’s meet Fatih, our Lead Artist.

Q & A

What is your role and what aspect of the game are you working on?

What I work on is basically everything that is remotely graphics related.

Icons, logo’s, banners, concepts, textures, models, shaders/materials, animations and other things that have slipped my mind at this point.

Did any game(s) inspire you to shape any of the features or provide input in Imagine Nations? How so?

Yes, since I am an artist, most of my input is geared towards the art side of things.

I took inspiration from most of the popular voxel style games, but wanted to “improve upon” them, bring them into the current gen.

What game(s) influenced you the most? What impact did they have on you as a person today?

I’ll just replace influence with most vivid memories, as to be honest I don’t feel games have an impact on me as a person.

However I do think games in general have an impact on me. For example I feel like playing games, since I was little, enabled me to have a lower reflection time in general.

Anyway to list a few:

– Super Mario Bros. (NES) – My first ever game.

– Castlevania (NES) – I shat bricks when playing this game.

– Contra (NES) – First experience of co-op.

– Pocky & Rocky (SNES) – General good times playing with family.

– Super Ghouls ‘n’ Ghosts (SNES) – Kind of like a “shat pebbles” experience.

– Blackhawk (aka Blackthorne(US)) (SNES) – No particular reason. I noticed though that the games from the SNES era that I remember best are those I played with/at my nephew.

– Super Mario 64 (N64) – First ever 3d game.

– GoldenEye (N64) – First experience with in game cheats.

– Diddy Kong Racing(N64) – No particular reason. Probably hovercrafts though.

– Pokemon Yellow (GBC) – Gotta catch ’em all!

– Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS) – Who would have thought shitting bricks and playing this games would make me a CV fanboy?

– Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (GBA) – First GBA title.

– Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GBA) – I loved its “soul system”.

– Megaman Zero (GBA) – Simply because it had a “metroidvania” like world I liked it.

– Golden Sun (GBA) – My first “real” portable RPG

– Castlevania Curse of Darkness (Xbox) – This is like the only game I remember from the xbox/ps2 era.

– Resident Evil 4 (GC)

– Tales of symphonia (GC)

– Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (DS) Castlevania.

– Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (DS) Akumajo Dracula

– Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (DS) My favourite handheld Castlevania game.

– Pokemon Black 2 (DS)

– Assassins Creed Series (PS3) I loved the first one, The sequel was even better. Lost interest in it though after revelations. Haven’t played 3 or 4.

– Uncharted series (PS3)

– Bayonetta (PS3)

– Devil May Cry 4 (PS3)

– Red Dead Redemption (PS3)

– GTA 5 (PS3)

– Street Fighter 4 (PS3) – Had been a while since I played SF, also with all the hype at EVO and what not, I just could not ignore it.

– Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (PS3) – Bet you all saw this coming..

– Dragons Dogma (PS3) – I freaking love this game.

– Fire Emblem: Awakening (3DS)

– Kid Icarus Uprising (3DS)

– Resident Evil Revelations (3DS)

– Pokemon Y (3DS)

– Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate (3DS) Mother of subtitles: Because subtitles are cool: One is not Enough.

There you have it.

I probably missed a few, but hey.. this list is already way too long.

What is your favorite video game character?

This changes over time for me.

I really used to like Mario as a kid.

Then the manly girly man know as Alucard.

When exposed to AC my fav was Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad followed by Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

Now, my favourite game character is Gabriel Belmont.

What game(s) are you playing when you are not working hard?

I’ve got a huge backlog.. Too many games, not enough time. So I prefer games where I can jump in and play right away.

Waiting for Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 to arrive so I’ll probably play that for a while.

A little bit of Risk Of Rain, some Steel Diver Subwars, occasionally some Street Fighter. I’ll probably pick up Weapon Shop de Omasse in a few days as well.

I really want to play Bravely Default as well, but I fear I don’t not have enough time for it. Would probably get on the backlog stack as well..

What is your favorite food and drink?

Something called Kapsalon, which literally translates to “Barbershop”. A layer of fries, layer of Döner, grilled Gouda, Garlic and hot sauce and finally some salad. A proper calorie bomb.

When it comes to drinks.. I have been drinking a lot of energy drinks lately. My favourite though would be Iced Green Tea.

Any last words?

Did I mention Castlevania? =]
