Let’s meet Daniel, our Programmer.
What is your role and what aspect of the game are you working on?
Currently tending to Physics, Audio engine and tools, Octree, and RayCasting.
Did any game(s) inspire you to shape any of the features or provide input in Imagine Nations? How so?
Every game I have ever played since starting on the Intellivision in the early 80’s. But none more so than the Original Bioshock. Games should be entertaining with a strong focus on immersion. IE: a clean UI, great story, a perfect balance of audio music and effects (also used extremely well in Dead Space). As a developer, I have trouble playing games and NOT dissecting them. Bioshock was the most notable game that kept me absorbed and stopped me from trying to break it down for more than 2 minutes. That level of fun and immersion is something I would love to have happen in every game that is ever created by any studio!
What game(s) influenced you the most? What impact did they have on you as a person today?
Mario Bros. The princess is ALWAYS in another castle. That is just a life lesson that no matter what troubles and obstacles you face, you should never give up. Every time you fail to achieve your goals, you don’t quit, you try try again!
What is your favorite video game character?
The city from any Grand Theft Auto game (especially 4 and 5). So vibrant and lifelike, watching the citizens of the world you can almost see the city “breath”. Some of the best games approach their world as a character itself and adds another whole dimension of immersion and believability. You can spend hours and hours interacting with the denizens of the world and all the surrounding activities without ever putting any work into progressing the storyline and have a blast the whole time!
What game(s) are you playing when you are not working hard?
South Park: The Stick of Truth
What is your favorite food and drink?
Gatorade G2 low calorie (raspberry lemonade is da bomb!)
Bacon wrapped bacon and bacon wrapped cow!
Any last words?
“Tis merely a Flesh Wound!”
